Angel Runners are a group of four running mamas from three countries: UK, Belgium and the Czech Republic. We are: Louise Abson, Mariam Lambert Lucie Prazak and Helena Virk. We all had similar reasons for starting to run, mainly getting fitter after having children. We all have different experiences of running and have different levels of fitness. Individually, we started to participate in leisure runs and organised races, and then this year we started to run together as a group. Angel Runners was formed quite spontaneously for the UNICEF World Run. Then we decided: hey let's do this more and give our running another purpose - raising money for charity. We participate in organised races while at the same time being involved in charity work. So, we had a think about cause which would be most meaningful for us. One thing we had in common was that we knew someone who was suffering, recovered, or sadly lost their life to cancer. This is a cruel disease and we believe we can make any contribution to the study and treatment of cancer is important. We chose to run for the Dutch Cancer Institute (NKI) due to its significance in Dutch and international cancer research. It is a leading institution in the study of the origin and potential treatment of cancer. The NKI collaborates with the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital, a cancer treatment centre dedicated to the transfer of research into clinical practice. This brings us up to the present. We are not athletes, are not interested in winning races (Although Mariam might disagree), we sometimes find running hard and draining, but now as a team we have a real motivation - to raise money for cancer research and treatment. For the last leg of 2016 and 2017 we will participate in organised races in various locations and run different distances. For us it's the participation and peer support that makes us winners in every race. Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Please support us and this worthy cause, every cent counts. In return for your support, we will post updates and photos through the website. Thanks again, Angel Runners x

Dear followers, We hope you have enjoyed the summer. It's been a while since we updated our page, so now seems as good time as any. We thought we would let you know about our upcoming runs. Our post summer reunion run is the Vredesloop in Den Haag on Sunday 24th September. All four of us will be reunited to run this, so that will be really nice. Our children will be running the kids run so this is especially fun. It is also Angel Lucie's birthday, so what better way to celebrate, right? Some of us will also be running in De 15 van Wassenaar. We debuted this run last year and it was really great (aside from the rain). Then, in October some of us are taking a special trip to Lake Como in Italy to run there. I know, it's a tough thing to do, someone has to do it ;). This is a special run for us and been a long time in the planning. So, this is us for the next month or so. Firstly, we would like to thank you already for your kind donations. If you have not had the chance to donate yet, or have a few extra pounds/euros at the end of the month, please, please give what you can to our pages that support the Antonio van Leeuwenhoek hospital. It is an extremely worthy cause and helps many people affected by cancer. Thank you and peace out. Love Angel Runners x P.S. Of course you will also be rewarded with amusing race photos. ??

A big thank you to everyone that supported us for the Bruggenloop in Rotterdam on 15th December. We all really enjoyed the event, and the combination of the excitement and nervous energy meant that we all finished the race with good times. There was a real fun atmosphere and it was good to be part of it. We started running in daylight and finished in the dark which made the race quite unique, along with the six bridges of course! All of the Angels did really well and felt proud to have run the race to raise money for such a worthy cause. We are all excited about what is to come next year. Our next planned race is the CPC in Den Haag. We will keep you posted. Thanks again to everyone that has already donated and if you haven't yet, what are you doing? Get to it! Thanks again, Angel Runners x
